Creative Arts Involvement

Poetry to me is one of the ultimate forms of self-expression. The art of extracting complex emotion into only a few words, captures me in a way sentences cannot. Poetry has helped me in some of the more confusing parts of my life. It's my way of sorting through the mess in my head and making sense of the chaos in a few short lines. When participating in the Peace Poetry competition, something stood out to me about the past winners and previous contestants. This was that most poems talked about the beauty and serenity of peace. My goal when participating was to focus solely on the sacrifice and heartache that it take to achieve something like true peace.
