Omrat - ASME Design Team
Omrat is a fully 3D printed RC car designed by the ASME Design Team. Using inspiration from the open-source car Tarmo, the design team wanted to reimagine and remake one from scratch. As an officer on the ASME Design Team my role on this project was to lead the design of the steering and suspension mechanisms on the car. This project is a ton of fun to work on and I love helping people get more involved. We are projecting this particular project to be done spring of 2024, and I cant wait to start the next big thing.
My Role as an Officer
In the ASME Design Team, the role of an officer requires you to show capability, and demonstrate technical and leadership skills. Because we are a very active club, being an officer also requires time and commitment. As this club is very new, it has been a lot of fun helping to make it what it is today. We have been continuously growing in size, so keeping track of members and giving them the support they need to stay involved and motivated is a large task. One of my jobs as the steering and suspension lead is to fairly distribute work to my members, and ensure they complete work on time. I also help run weekly office hours to help with technical questions and work on various parts. Outside of the Omrat project, I have duties of picking up supplies and food as well as giving presentations on progress and highlighting exceptional work. Going forward we plan to introduce more projects to keep our members engaged as well as build connections with companies to provide learning and networking opportunities.
